John Mayes to Samuel Mayes - Deed of Gift

Know all men by these presents that I John Mayes of the state and county aforesaid for divers good consideration of natural love and affection which I have and bear unto my beloved son Samuel Mayes as also for services rendered to me by him in support of my natural life have given, granted and confirmed and by these presents to give grant and confirm unto the said Samuel Mayes my only son and beloved child negroe girl named Rachel as also one boy named Dave as also all and singular my goods and chattels now in my possession to have, hold and enjoy as aforsaid unto the said Samuel Mayes his Executors, Administrators and assigns forever, and I the said John Mayes all and singular the above property I do hereby warrant and forever defend against myself Exucutors, Administrators and against every other person laying claim and just claim or title to the same I do hereby deliver up and put in full possession the aforesaid property unto the said Samuel Mayes. Witness thereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this first of January in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred Twenty-forty-fourth and forty-fifth year of the American Independence.
