July 3, 1798

            James Woods Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia. To all to whom these presents shall come, Greetings:

Knowye, That by virtue of a Pre emptous  Warrant Number fifteen hundred and twenty one issued the twenty ninth day of September One thousand seven hundred and eighty one, there is granted by the said commonwealth unto Goodwin Mayse a certain tract or parcel of land containing One hundred acres by Survey bearing date the sixth day of April one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven, Lying and being in the County of Henry on the waters of Matrimony Creek and bounded as forthwith to witt: Beginning on a white oak in Jesse Humphrys line, thence new line South five degrees West one hundred and five poles to a Maple on a Branch, South twenty seven degrees East, twenty two poles to a white oak, South nine degrees West thirty four Poles to a Hickory Bush in the North Carolina Line, North eighty one degrees East forty two poles to a Poplar, North sixty two degrees East sixty poles to a white oak, North thirty nine degrees East fifty two poles to a poplar on said branch, North fifty poles to Pointers, North sixty two degrees West one hundred and two poles to Pointers in said Humphreys line, with this south eight degrees West twenty two poles to white oak, north sixty four degrees West fifty poles to the beginning. With its assurtenounces to Have an to Hold this said tract or parcel of land with the assurtenances to the said Goodwin Mayse and his Heirs forever. _________ where as the said James Wood Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, hath here unto set his hand as_________ the _______  seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed at Richmond the Third Day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety eight and of the Commonwealth the twenty second
