292 Acres  in  Henrico County

. . . confirm unto Henry Mayes one certain tract of land containing two hundred ninety two acres lying and being in the County of Henrico and parish of Bristol and on the North side of Swift Creek  Viz:

 

BEGINNING at a corner black oak belonging to ye land of ye said Newman & runeth thence on his line East eighty two poles to a corner White oak  Thence South seventy poles to a corner pine  Thence East two hundred & fourteen poles to a corner gum  Thence North by East thirty six poles to a corner pine  Thence North North East one hundred pole to a corner pine on the line of Henry Waltall  Thence on his line West

ninety four poles to a corner a corner Black Oak Thence West North West one hundred ninety four poles to a corner Black Oak  Thence South West & by West twenty one poles  Thence West by South thirty nine pole to a Creek as it trendeth to ye place begin at  Ye said land was formerly granted unto Col Edward Hill Rich Ligon Hugh Ligon and Samuel Newman by patent caring Date ye 21st of Aprile 1690 and since granted unto the said Henry Mayes by order of the Govor.  Court Dated the 15th of Aprile 1703 and is further due to the said Henry Mayes by land for the importation of six persons into this Colony whose names are to be in the record mentioned under this patent to have & to hold To be held on yielding & paying & c  Provided & c. Given under my hand & seale of the Colony this 24th Day April 1703
