Christopher Greenup, Esq., Governor of the Commonwealth of
Kentucky to all whom these presents shall come greeting know that ye that by
virtue and in consideration of a Certificate number Nine Hundred and Sixteen,
granted by the Commissioners in One Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety Eight
agreeable to an Act of Assembly for encourageing and granting relief to
Settlers, there is granted by the said Commonwealth
unto William Mays assignee of Lawrence Smith a certain parcel of land
containing Two Hundred acres by survey bearing date the Eight day of August
One Thousand Eight Hundred lying and being in the County of Cumberland on the
North side of Cumberland River on the waters of Marrowbone Creek and commneces
as followeth to wit: Beginning at a Buckeye and Creek near a branch of
Marrowbone thence West One Hundred and Seventy Nine poles to a Hickory to two
Ashe trees thence South One Hundred and Seventy Nine poles to two Buckeyes and
a Sugar tree thence East One hundred and Seventy Nine poles to a stake thence
North One Hundred and Seventy Nine poles to the beginning
with its apprutinances to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land
with its appurtinances to the said William Mays and his heirs forever. In
Witness whereof the said Christopher Geenup, Esq., Governor of the
Commonwealth of Kentucky hath hereunto set his hand and caused the Seal of the
said Commonwealth to be affixed at Frankfort on the Seventh day of September
in the year of our Lord, One Thousand Eight Hundred and Seven and of the
Commonwealth forewith.
