Will of Charles Bostic
26th day of November 1781
Halifax Co., VA
Will & Testament in manner & form
following. Vizt.
First as I have given my son - William
Bostick. a Track of Land containing one hundred & Sixty seven & one
half Acres. Also a Cow & Calf & a Feather Bed & furniture I give
him five shillings to be raised from my Estate.
Item as I have given the same Quantity of
Land as above to my son John Bostick. Also a Cow & calf & Feather Bed
& furniture. I give him five shillings also -
Item. I give and devise to my son Moses
Bostick one Tract or parvel of Land lying on Childrey Creek in Halifax County
being the land whereon the said Moses has made improvement. and is part of a
greater Tract of two hundred & ninety five acres. & is bounded as
follows Vizt). Beginning on an ironwood Tree on Childrey Creek thence off a new
line North nine degrees. West one hundred & ninety poles to a white saplin
in my line. thence on my line South fifty four degrees. East fifty poles to a
line. thence South seventy Six degrees. East one hundred & two poles to a
small red oak. thence South nine Degrees East one hundred & sixteen poles
to a burch on the aforesaid Creek. & thence up the said Creek as it
meanders to the beginning. containing by stimation one hundred & forty
seven acres. to him & his heirs forever, also a cow & calf &
sow,& piggs together with a Feather Bed & furniture at the decease of
his mother an also the still & its utensils.
Item. I give to my son Absolom Bostick after
the decease of my wife the remainder of the tract of Land whereon I now live to
him & his heirs forever also a Cow & Calf. Sow and pigs Feather Bed
& Furniture.
Item. I leave to my loving wife Betty the use
of my Estate both real and personal during her natural life -
Item. My will & desire is that each of my
daughters. Ann Elizabeth & Mary shall each of them have a feather Bed &
furniture also a Cow & Calf & Sow & Piggs when my wife shall think
propper to deliver them or at her decease. the rest of my Estate not before
mentioned. I leave to be equally devided after my Wifes decease among all my
surviving Children at that period. And I do hereby appoint my loveing wife
Betty Executrix together with my sons William & John Bostick Executors of
this my last will & Testament. and further my will.& desire is that my
Estate be not appraised nor my Executrix or Executors oblige to give any
Security. In Witness whereof I have sett my hand and seal this 26th day of
