Will of Daniel May-Charlotte Co.,VA-1777-WB 1 Pg 185

In the Name of God Amen, I Daniel May of Charlotte County being Sick, but in my perfect Senses and Memory do Order this my Last Will and Testament, first, my desire is that all my Just
Debts be paid and Satisfied and my Land I now live on I give as followeth, my Son John May to have One hundred Acres of Land beginning on William Hudspeth's line and running a Strait line to Join Christpher Marrable, my Son Joseph May a piece Little or Much as followeth to join William Hudspeth and Michael Gill and to run as the Creek runs as high as a Certain Plank Path and a Strait line to Cool Spring a Strait line from thence to Gills line, and to my Son David May to run a line As the Creek runs to a Certain White Oak that stands in my Planatation abd from thence to a Cherry Tree Standing near a  Tan(Tar?) ?ate and from thence running up Silcock's Creek until he joins John May and for the Land to Join Christopher Marrable, Thomas Portwood ?  John Standish and Michael Gill as far as Joseph May's line and to come along Joseph May's line to the beginning, and all the rest of my Land I give to my son Edmund May Little or Much & in case David or Edmund or both Should die with out Heir for their Land to be Sold and Equally Divided between my Daughters, and all my personal Estate I give to my Wife Alsey During her Natural life to be at her Desposal except one mare that I gave to my Daughter Judey May of the Name of Speckle Foot, and after my wifes Death for every thing that she has to be Equally divided between my Daughters, and I also appoint my son John May, Joseph May and Gabriel May Executors of this  my last Will and Testament.

At a Court held for Charlotte County the 4th day of May 1778 The within written Last Will and Testament of Daniel May dec'd was presented in Court by John May One of the Executors therein Named & the same was proved by the oaths of Michael Gill and Elizabeth May two of the witnesses thereto Subscribed and Ordered to be  Recorded, and Alie May Widow and Relict of the said Daniel May came into Court and Relinquished her Right to the Legacies left her in said Will and Claims her thirds of her husbands Estate as by Law allowed.

At a Court held for Charlotte County the 7th day of September 1778-On the motion of John May one of the Executors herein Named, who made oath according to Law Certificate is granted him for obtaining probate of said Will in due form he giving Security whereupon he together with James Watkins his Security entered into and Acknowledged their bond Accordidng to Law for that Purpose.
