In the Name of God Amen, I Henry Mayes of the county of
Northumberland beingvery sick but of perfect memory doo make this my Last Will and
Testament in
mannor followeth.First I bequeath my soule to Almighty God my
maker Trusting to
be saved by the ? and merett of Jesus Christ my Redeemer and
for my body to be
buryed in a Christian Buryall according to the dyscretion of my
Exor's.Item,
my will is that if my loveing Wife be with child it may ? or
part of my land
proportionably as my Two daughters. The plantaion where I live
I give to my
daughter Mary Mayes to her and her heirs forever: The plantation
where John Wolfe
doth live I give to my daughter Elizabeth Mayse to her and her
heirs forever
and my will is that my Land to be Equally divided into
three parts if it
pleases god my wife bears me Child, if not, my will is that my
Land be equally
divided between my two daughters. I leave their two uncles
Josiss Basie and Edmond
Basie to be a guide to them being my Trusty friends and to be a
friend to my
Loveing Wife. Item, I give to my Loveing wife the bed which I
lye on with the
furniture belonging to it. To my two daughters to each of them
a bed and Iron
pott Two Cowes, two Sheep? and two dis? two plates and I leave
between my Two
daughters a Young Mare.I tem I give unto my Loveing wife all the
rest of my
moveable Estate which please God to bestow upon me making her
my Whole Exor. in

The Records being burnt and Mr. Edmond Basie ? this Court with
a Coppy of the
Last Will and Testament of Henry Mayse ? there which the said
Basie & Mr.
Richard Nutt hathin made a Oath ? True Coppy to the best of
their knowledge this
