Probated 15 June 1775. In the name of God Amen. I Henry Mayes of Christ
Church Parish and County of Lancaster (VA) being sick ...of body but perfect
sound sense & memory blessed by God for it do make this my last Will and
Testament and Form following, that is to say first & priveit I bequeath my
Soul to God that gave it to me, trusting in the Merits of my sweet Savior that
at the general Resurrection I shall receive Pardon & Remission of all my
Sins & my Body to buried in a Christian like manner at the Direction of my
EX or hearafter mintioned & as for what worldly goods it hath pleased God
to ... me with. I give as followerth.. First I give to my Wife Sarah (one
record says Sinah?) all my whole Estate during her martial Life or Widowhood
and after her Decease to by equally divided between all my children, John,
Judith, Sarah, Thomas, Frances, James, Ann, Henry, Elizabeth & William
Mayes. I do appoint Johnson Riveer my whole sole Exor over this my last Will
& Testament, In Witness whereof, I have hereunto set my Hand & fixed my
Seal this 24th Day of March Anno Dom 1775. Signed Sealed & Delivered in
